Statement of intent

I intend on creating a music video using the song “cloud nine “by Jamiriqui, based on the dance genre. The video shall represent and capture key conventions of the 90s period (clothes, music and hip hop culture) and joys of being youthful, I shall achieve this via showing an old man going to sleep, and waking up in his former 18 year old body. The character shall rediscover his youth finding joy in the activity’s he used to engage in without worry. The element of freedom can be represented by such locations as the woods/ river and other areas located in open spaces. I would like the video to use a variety of shots especially extreme close ups too represent how the characters feel and long shots to show how he interacts with the environment. The intended viewer for my video is the AB audience 16-30 therefore the video shall be catered to them in the sense that they will understand and still appreciate the youthful representations, and the older viewers shall understand the intertextuality and references to the 90s culture due to the fact they lived through it and experienced the music and culture of the time.  The video shall also relate to older viewers due to the fact they know what it feels like to age past their prime. The video shall start in a dark location/ black and white, a confused old man who is aged. The video shall show how an old boring man used to have an exciting active life. Like the story of Jekyll and Hyde, the alter ego is a complete polar opposite of him. The alter ego is flamboyant, adventurous, and confident. The Alter ego shall pull the character into a colour full world through waking up into a new life (referencing Aha take on me).. Throughout the video, he shall experience a thrilling life and regain his outlook on the world and his life. Throughout the journey of the music video, the character shall become more adventurous and courageous. The platform I intend on presenting my video is you tube as other sites often have issues with such a large amount of data. I may think of presenting my video via Instagram however this maybe an issue due to length. Universal music is our set industry therefore I would like for my video to follow the traditions of this company which produces new and fresh ideas and videos however mine shall do this in addition with capturing the  infamous decade of the 90s.

Website Brief

My website shall withhold the codes and conventions from my music video. For example the font used in my music video to display the title and producer shall also be used in the website title and sub headings. I shall also take photo shoots on location of where the music video is shot so the photos on the website are relevant and coherent. The website shall also include quotes from the cast of the music video and so they can share their ideas and influence on the project. I also plan to include a section dedicated to the influences on my project such as bands and other videos. This kind of thing shall include I replicated or inspired me and other producing ideas that influenced me.
